Flag football and Soccer

Reid is still always making up funny hats.  Ever since he was a little boy he has been trying to make us laugh by putting funny things on his head.  This time we were are Clara's soccer game and he says "Mommy look" and I turn around and he has the case for the folding chairs we brought on his head and they are made of a stiff material so it just stood straight up.  Alvin had to do it too, but his wasn't as stiff.

We went to the Natural History Museum.  The kids loved it.  There were lots of things to see and do.

I love how Dean is always being dragged around by his siblings.  He always looks like he is hanging on for dear life.

Afterward we stopped at the new City Creek mall and looked around.

The next day was full of soccer and flag football.  Clara played soccer and Reid played flag football. I was very surprised at Clara. She was so into her soccer games.  She usually played so hard that she had to take a rest and hated being on the side lines the whole time she was out.  She was almost always right with the ball.  This is her first time playing so she doesn't have all the skills down, but she definitely has the potential to be good.  It was fun to watch her try so hard.

Good thing I am fixing her hair.  That is the hairdresser in me:)

Reid played flag football and he did well too.  He has been dying to play football ever since last fall and so we let him try flag football first.  We still don't know of he will like tackle football, but he was glad he played flag.  He did break his arm in the last game. Which isn't a good sign for tackle football.

Dean and Grandpa watching the game.  This was such a cute shot.

Silly Kids

Just one day after church.  Alvin likes to get his picture taken.  He is always pulling faces and posing.

Clara is wearing a dress I made out of an old t-shirt.  The bodice was a t-shirt I cut up.  I would not recommend it.  It took longer and it doesn't look as new as I would like it.  I am not a fan of upcycled clothes unless they are old clothes that were never worn.

Clara got a bird for her birthday this year.  She named him Buddy.  So far he is a good bird and she loves him.

Dean turned 1

Here is my sweet little boy Dean.  He turned one May 12th and is so much fun.  I love this age so much better than a newborn.  I always feel like if I can make it to the one year mark I am home free.  Well, I don't feel home free yet, because he still requires a lot of attention but I do feel like I see a light at the end of the tunnel.  I feel so bad saying that, but I am just being honest. I don't love the 1st year.  Dean has been a fussy baby so that doesn't help.  He has acid reflux and so that has made him not so happy.  He is still a sweet little boy.  He is very smiley and loves to laugh.  He likes to entertain us.  He also likes to entertain strangers.  If anyone gives him just a little attention he starts to entertain and tries to get them to laugh.  He is also very active.  He loves to get around and see what is going on in all parts of the house.  He loves his brothers and sister.  They all take such good care of him.  He loves to read books, and he loves eating those squeezable baby food(which are a heaven sent by the way) He is starting to love to cuddle,  he loves to play peek a boo,  he loves to play on my bed,  he loves to climb stairs, he loves to take walks in the stroller, and he loves when Clara takes him outside with her and her friends and they take him on all kinds of rides.  He has a couple of nicknames. " Dino" ,"Dee Dee", "Deanie", and "Dinky" .  I can't wait to see more of his personality develop.

Cinco de Mayo

We hosted a Cinco de Mayo party this year.  Hopefully we can make it a yearly thing because it was a lot of fun planning it and having it.  It is great because the decorations are cheap and the food is easy.  Both David and I served in Houston, Texas for our missions and we were both spanish speaking and so we taught a lot of Mexicans and so it was fun to celebrate like they do.  We had a little Jarritos for everyone.  These are really tasty sodas.
Fun little mustaches for everyone.

We served beef and chicken tacos with all the fixins.

Nacho Libre came too:)

The kids were in heaven with the pinata. The parents were all going to have a heart attach by the end because the bat was swinging and kids were running.  Just a lot of yelling "Wait!" "Stand back!" "Don't swing yet!"
