Bridal Veil Falls

Okay so we did a lot of stuff this weekend, but we are trying to do as much as we can before it gets cold and before everyone is in school. After church we went up to bridal veil falls. The kids were in heaven.

Alvin is 5 months old today. He is such a happy baby. He smiles every time you look at him.
Clara was very timid at first in the water, but by the end she was all over it. She was running, and splashing, and climbing on rocks.
I went visiting teaching today and I had to take the kids, because David had to do visits as the Elder's Quorom President and during my conversation with the girl we visit, all of a sudden Reid stands up with a quarter stuck to his face that he had pushed on his face to get it to stick there and he says " Uh... how do I get this quarter off my face?" We all started laughing, because it was so random. The girl I visit is in primary and says she is always seeing Reid do stuff like that to entertain the other kids. The quarter thing is totally something my dad would do. I guess we gave him the perfect name.(My dad's name is Reid)

Dino museum and Silver Lake

This is Alvin and his new buddy Max. I went to the Dino Museum with Amy and her kids on Friday. We stayed there for 4 hours. Both our husbands go out of town a lot so we have plenty of time to be alone. So we stayed together as long as possible. The kids had a lot of fun together.
There are a lot of hands on parts in the Museum where the kids play for a while and we can sit and talk. This one they can make different kinds of dinosaurs and see where the dinosaurs were found on the map.
Since we had so much fun at the Dinosaur Museum we went to Silver Lake the next day with our husbands who were finally home. We saw a moose right by the lake.
Here is Reid, Sam(who stretches out the neck of every shirt like you see in the picture), and Dillan(Amy's cousin).
David, Clara and Alvin.

Watering Our Garden

This is our second year doing a garden. The kids love it. A lot of times we go out to water it in the morning before the gym or now before school. Lately Reid waters while I pick all the veggies that are ripe. Most the time Reid ends up more wet than the plants. Give Reid a hose and he is a pretty happy kid.
We didn't get tons of tomatoes last year, so I planted a ton this year so now we have plenty of tomatoes. We get about this much everyday that are red.

Reid's first day of kindergarten

Reid went to kindergarten for the first time today. Here he is waiting at the bus stop. He said when he got home "I was on the bus for a LONG time." Our bus stop is the first to be picked up and the last to be dropped off, so he is on the the bus for like 30minutes each way. Extra time for me:) He was so excited for school today and so was I. Although I did get a little teary eyed when the bus drove off.
Here he is in is new school outfit.
The first one to get on the bus.
He waited on the stairs for a while and all the other kids passed him. I think he was surprised he was actually going all by himself.
Here he is waving goodbye in the middle window. He and his two friends all sat in the same seat. This is when I got teary eyed. Seeing my little Reid leaving the nest. He came home and said that they only got to have recess for 1 minute. so basically the bus ride was too long and recess was too short.
All the other grades started last monday, so the kindergarteners went for an hour on the first day and then they each went for an assessment test during the week. Here is Reid last monday in his class. He could hardly wait for this week. Everyday he askes how many more times do I have to go to sleep until I go to school. It was a long week!
Here they are lining up to tour the classroom.
And here they are reading a story about colors. The teacher was asking questions and one of them was "Why do we keep our hands and arms to ourselves?" and Reid raised his hand and said..."So we don't get other people sick." With Alvin in the house everything is about not getting others germs in our house. Clara is so excited to go to preschool which starts next week. Stay tuned.

Truck Show

Today we went to the truck show at Thanksgiving point. We went with my mom and my cousin and her little boy. We figured Reid and my cousin's little boy would love all of the trucks. And the boys did. My cousin's little boy is named Jack and Reid called him Jackie. He isn't even two yet, but Reid treated him like his little buddy. It was fun to see Reid as an older brother figure. He is so sweet to kids younger than him.
Here they are riding the the cow train.
And of course there were some fancy cars there, so Reid was pretty excited.
Here's Reid pretending to drive the Pride truck.
I have been telling Reid that I was going to cut his hair before school started and so he said "Can I tell you how I want it cut?" and I said "Maybe, how do you want it cut?"
and he said, "I don't know yet, there are just so many haircuts I have to choose from." So today I finally got around to cutting it and He decided he wanted it a little shorter than the last time I cut it and he loved it. He kept saying "Cut it like this everytime Mommy." and "You are the only one who does it just right." and "Never forget to put gel in it when I go to school Mommy so it is spikey." and then when he went upstairs to show his dad, David said "Your hair looks good Reid" and Reid said "I picked this haircut out of a magazine."
He wanted to be like a client maybe. He says the funniest things.

Provo River Half Marathon

Today I ran a half marathon down provo canyon. It was so much fun. My dad ran it too. Two of my friends ran as well. One of them ran with me the whole time and our time was 1 hour and 56 minutes. That is a better time than the last 3 years. We were pretty excited. My dad is training to run the Saint George Marathon in Oct. so this was nothing for him. It is so much fun to be able to run races with my dad. I hope someday I will be running marathons when I am 60. I am so proud of my dad.

Family Day at the Air Force Base

This last weekend we went to a family day at Chauncy's air force base in Layton, UT. They put us up in a hotel the night before and then Saturday morning we went to the activities. It was so much fun and the kids loved it. They had carnival games, the kids made rockets that they shot up into the air, there was 2 bounce houses there, and other fun boothes to look at.
After the activities we went the the museum on base. Reid was in heaven looking at all the jets, airplanes, and helicopters, a as well as my Dad. My dad was in the national guard and so he jumped out of air planes and helicopters. So as you can imagine he had to show us all the ones he jumped out of and the stories behind them. Reid's favorite one was the blackbird. He even got a small version so take home. He says nothing is as fast as it.
There were some pretend airplanes that the kids could play in and all kinds of helmets and outfits to try on.
Of course my dad had the most fun with the helmets.
